Safety-Critical Systems Club

Under new Management

After the first quarter century of the Club, a major change has been made. Our operational base was, until July 2016, at Newcastle University, hosted within the Centre for Software Reliability. With the retirement of both Joan Atkinson and myself, a new home was needed for the SCSC. Various options were explored, and an excellent solution has been found at the University of York where Professor Tim Kelly has assumed responsibility from 1st August 2016. My thanks and best wishes for the future (especially of the Club!) go to Tim and the team he is establishing to take things forward at York.

Finally, on a personal note, it has been a privilege to work with so many contributors, an education to have been exposed to so much expertise on safety issues, and a highly convivial experience over so many years. I've learned that some level of risk is inevitable, so I hope that everyone stays as safe as possible, and that the Safety-Critical Systems Club continues to contribute to risk reduction for many years to come.

Yours sincerely,

Tom Anderson
